It was our dog, Zoe’s, birthday this week and I thought I’d make dog treats to celebrate. I’ve made these a couple times before and dogs always love them. This recipe comes from my friend Bita Arabian of Oven Hug and is a cinch to make. Thanks Bita! Enjoy! woof-woof!
Peanut Butter Dog Treats
1 cup flour
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce or mashed banana
1/4 cup vegetable broth (or meat broth of your choice – I used turkey broth)
cookie cutters of your choice – I used a fire hydrant, squirrel and bone.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, peanut butter and applesauce in a large mixing bowl. Add broth and stir until well combined.
Use your hands to press and roll the dough into a ball. Place dough ball on a flat surface and roll out evenly – sprinkle surface with a little flour if needed. Dough should be about 1/4″ thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
Use parchment paper or a silt pad on a baking/cookie sheet. Bake for about 18 minutes or until golden brown. Store in a zip lock or an air tight container.
