Steak Salad

Steak salad has become a favorite in our household.  I love the flavors in this one – a little tomato with some blue cheese dressing and a good nicely done steak cut in strips.  oh!  We can’t forget the onion rings for the top.  I was introduced to this salad by a nearby restaurant and after talking with my neighbor who makes her copied version at her home, I think I’ve got a pretty good copy going here.  And, yes, it’s that good that others are trying to reproduce it in their own kitchens!  Enjoy!  This recipe serves two.

Steak Salad

1 New York steak, just under a pound

1 small head of romaine lettuce

6 cherry tomatoes, or more if you like

4 tablespoons crispy fried onions (French’s makes a good one)

4 tablespoons blue cheese dressing

Bake New York steak for 15 minutes at 375 degrees (I used the toaster oven).  Once cooked, let it sit for five minutes before slicing into strips.  Wash the romaine lettuce and tear into bite sized pieces.  This will be the base of your salad.  Add strips of steak.  Cut cherry tomatoes in half and add to the salad.  Top with crispy fried onions and drizzle with blue cheese dressing.

Sweet Notes:  375 degrees for 15 minutes will give you a medium-rare steak so you’ll want to cook longer if you like your meat more well done.
